The Secure online shopping system Mastercard® SecureCode/Verified by VISA allows making online payments for goods and services using both debit and credit cards issued by Norvik Banka. We are committed to making your purchases on the Internet even more secure!

The Secure online shopping system Mastercard® SecureCode/Verified by VISA with client identification using One-time password (OTP) is:

  • secure: your card is protected with a One-time password (OTP) only you can get access to and is valid to confirm one payment only;
  • convenient: you no longer need to remember your password! The bank will automatically send you a One-time password (OTP) to mobile phone number or e-mail address specified by you;
  • free: using the Secure online shopping service is free!

Please note: all cards are connected to the Secure online shopping system! However, you need to register the One-time password (OTP) channel (mobile phone number or e-mail address) for each of your cards. You can register or change the channel in e-Norvik online bank or at any Customer service centre.

How the Secure online shopping system works:

  1. choose the desired product or service in the online shop and proceed to the payment page;
  2. make sure that there is a Mastercard® SecureCode or Verified by VISA logo on the payment page. Logo means that the online seller has joined the Secure online shopping system.

  3. enter your card data (card number, name and surname, card expiration date, CVV/CVC code);
  4. choose the channel to receive a One-time password (OTP);
  5. upon confirmation of the card data a One-time password (OTP) will be sent to the channel you have chosen;
  6. enter the One-time password (OTP) and confirm the payment;
  7. in case of successful authorisation you will see a confirmation stating that the payment has been successfully completed and you will be redirected to the seller’s page.

    The Secure online shopping system ensures two-level authentication of a cardholder who makes a payment to an online seller supporting this technology.
  2. How to make sure that an online seller has joined the Secure online shopping system?
    If a seller has joined the Secure online shopping system, you will see a Mastercard® SecureCode orVerified by VISA logo in the seller’s online shop:

  3. What does the two-level authentication of a cardholder mean?
    Two-level authentication, which ensures additional shopping security, includes the following:
    1. entry of a card data (card number, name and surname, card expiration date, CVV/CVC code);
    2. entry of a One-time password (OTP) sent by the bank automatically to the card holder’s chosen channel (mobile phone number or e-mail address).
  4. What is a One-time password (OTP)?
    A One-time password is a unique 6-digit combination, generated automatically for each online purchase at payment confirmation. The One-time password (OTP) is valid for 5 minutes and is sent by the bank to the client’s registered channel in the form of a short text message. The One-time password (OTP) is entered in the purchase confirmation window upon entering card data (card number, name and surname, card expiration date and CVV/CVC code).
  5. What cards can be used to make purchases in online shops of the sellers that support the system Secure online shopping system?
    All payment cards issued by Norvik Banka are connected to the Secure online shopping system. However, if you wish to make an online purchases using the card, you need to register a channel for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP).
  6. What channels can be used to receive a One-time password (OTP)?
    The bank’s client can choose at what channel to receive a One-time password (OTP). The bank offers to register the following channels for the receipt of a short text message:
    • mobile phone number,/li>
    • e-mail address.
  7. How to register or change the channel for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP)?
    The channel can be registered or changed in e-Norvik online bank or at any Customer service centre. In case the phone number or e-mail address has been changed, please inform the bank of the changes as soon as reasonable possible!
  8. Should the channel for the receipt of a one-time password be reregistered if the payment card has been replaced (due to expiration date or extraordinary replacement)?
    No. Information on the channels registered will be automatically transferred to the new card.
  9. Is it possible to pay for purchases in online shops using the card issued by Norvik Banka if no channel is registered for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP)?
    Starting with 1 April 2017, it will be impossible to make payments in online shops using the payment cards which have no channel registered for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP).
  10. How to check what a channel is registered for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP)?
    The type of a channel registered for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP) can be checked in e-Norvik online bank, at the Customer support service at +371 67041100, or at a Customer service centre.
  11. What actions should be taken if no short text message with a One-time password (OTP) has been received when paying for purchases in an online shop which is a member of the Secure online shopping system Mastercard® SecureCode / Verified by VISA?
    If no message with the One-time password (OTP) has been received within the few minutes, we recommend requesting the password repeatedly by pressing the “Resend One-time password” button.
  12. What actions should be taken if the channel registered for the receipt of a One-time password (OTP) has been blocked?
    If a the channel registered for the receipt of a One-time password has been blocked, you may unblock it on e-Norvik online bank or by calling the Customer support service at +371 67041100.
  13. What actions should be taken if a card holder did not make purchases in an online shop but received a short text message with a One-time password (OTP)?
    In this case please immediately call the Customer support service at +371 67041100 to block the payment card.
  14. Can purchases be made in online shops which are not members of the Secure online shopping system Mastercard® SecureCode / Verified by VISA?
    Yes, purchases in such online shops can be made using a payment card. In this case, entering a One-time password (OTP) will not be required. Please be informed, that your payment will not be secured by Secure online shopping system Mastercard® SecureCode / Verified by VISA.
